dream home dreaming

My creativity is churning out all kinds of projects and yearning for treasure hunt antiquing trips in this new house. It’s so exciting to be somewhere new and to face the challenge of fitting everything together. Moving into a new place is like putting together a giant puzzle, and I love that about this process. It’s like math and art and creation and engineering all at once!

Design sites and Pinterest have been a great source of inspiration as I try to figure out what works best in our new space. With tiny closets I’ve had to get creative with my storage solutions, and with hardwood floors I’ve been on the search for exciting yet affordable rugs.

Here are some projects I’ve been thinking about lately:

Navajo prints and floor pillows via The Selby

This fabric for upholstery via The Handmade Home

woven sand-toned fabric for the headboard via Design Sponge

a wooden chest to double as storage and a coffee table via Hege Greenall-Scholtz

cowhide rug with a dark leather couch via A Beautiful Mess

OR a fabulous ethnic rug via Suvi sur le vife

giant framed and matted photos in the bedroom and bathroom via Desire to Inspire

replace bulbs in our old chandelier with funky Einstein bulbs via Smile and Wave

and finally, a tiny wreath over the bed for Christmas via Vintage Chic

Oh what fun it is to decorate and DIY! I have a few other things in the works, like my first attempt at sewing a Roman shade, making some Christmas decorations, painting a few canvases and hanging art. Meanwhile, what are some projects you’re working on ? Do you have anything you’ve been putting off starting, or are you raring to go once inspiration strikes?

Let me know, I’m always curious!

  1. i love all of these ideas! this year we are keeping things really simple around here. our tree is small & filled with only our very favorite ornaments. a strand of twinkle lights here & there, our nativity scene & a few tiny vintage trees scattered about keeps it cozy yet doesn’t make me crazy come january 1st! i love this season!
